Product Name
Product Introduction
ND-AHF-50-380-W is a wall mounted unit rated 50 A at 380 V AC (3P4W) built for hospitals and clinics. It removes harmonic current at the point where the non-linear load connects, so the distortion stops at the source instead of spreading through upstream switchgear, transformers and generators.
Imaging suites and lifts share the same board, and acoustic noise matters far more here than in an industrial plant room.
The unit measures the load current continuously and injects an equal and opposite compensation current, so the grid current returns to a near sinusoidal shape while the load keeps running unchanged. Reactive power compensation and three-phase unbalance correction can be enabled on the same hardware, which means one Active Harmonic Filter AHF can replace a combination of capacitor banks, detuned reactors and balancing equipment.
Product Features and Highlights
Main technical characteristics of this 50 A 380 V Active Harmonic Filter AHF:
- PWM Speed-Controlled Fan Cooling
Fan speed follows the output current instead of running at a fixed speed, cutting auxiliary consumption and airborne noise. - Low Auxiliary Power Loss
Auxiliary consumption stays a small fraction of rated current, so the unit does not become a new heat source in the room. - No Resonance with Capacitor Banks
Because the unit injects current instead of switching capacitors, it cannot resonate with existing power factor correction banks. - Residual THDi Below 5%
After compensation the grid current distortion is normally held under 5%, in line with IEEE 519 and GB/T 14549 recommendations. - Integrated HMI with Event Log
The LCD panel shows voltage, current, THDi, power factor and module status, with event records for fast diagnosis. - Complete Internal Protection Chain
Over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, phase-loss and short-circuit protection act without external relays. - Rack, Wall and Cabinet Options
One power platform is offered as a 19-inch rack module, a wall unit or a floor-standing cabinet. - Wide Ambient Envelope
Operation from -25 to +60 degrees C with high humidity tolerance; derating applies only above 2000 m altitude.
Typical Application Scenarios
This Active Harmonic Filter AHF is normally installed on the following loads:
- CT, MRI and X-ray imaging rooms
- Operating theatre air handling
- Medical vacuum and gas plant
- Lift and escalator drives
- Laboratory analyser power

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about this Active Harmonic Filter AHF from project engineers and distributors:
Q: What is THDi and what value can be reached?
A: THDi is total harmonic current distortion, the measure of how far the grid current departs from a sine wave. After compensation our units normally hold THDi below 5%, and often below 3% at full load.
Q: How does an active filter differ from a passive filter?
A: A passive filter uses tuned reactors and capacitors and only works near its tuning point, with resonance risk. An active filter measures the load spectrum continuously and cancels a wide range of orders in real time.
Q: Do we need to replace the existing capacitor bank?
A: No. The Active Harmonic Filter AHF and the capacitor bank can coexist. In many projects the filter handles harmonics while the capacitors continue to supply reactive power.
Q: What after-sales support is included?
A: Lifetime free remote technical support, complete manuals and drawings, optional paid on-site commissioning abroad, and spare parts at reasonable cost after the warranty period.
Q: What happens when the plant load grows later?
A: Because the platform is modular, additional modules can be paralleled to the existing unit up to ten units, without replacing the original hardware.
Q: Should we choose three-phase three-wire or four-wire?
A: Three-phase four-wire is used where single-phase loads and neutral current exist, such as commercial buildings and data halls. Three-phase three-wire suits balanced industrial drives and 690V distribution.
